Yahoo’s newest acquisition is Evntlive, a concert streaming platform

YahooYahoo continues its acquisitions by buying Evntlive, a platform that streams live performances. The service will be integrated into video projects of the IT giant.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed yet, but the Evntlive platform will be closed and the team that managed it will be moved to other video projects of Yahoo .

“Since launching our beta service in April 2013, we have live streamed hundreds of performances from amazing artists and festivals to fans all over the world. Although our service will no longer be available, we are excited to be joining Yahoo’s video team,” said the company representatives in a statement.

Yahoo said in a statement that “The team has found a way to truly make an experience out of live-streaming and we’re excited to welcome them to Yahoo. We see a lot of potential for how we can expand upon our shared vision for an entertaining content consumption experience.”

Evntlive is a digital platform that allows users to watch live concerts on PCs, tablets and phones. The application allows changing angles of view to concerts and access interviews or artists videos. Evntlive has a service where users can purchase music and chat with other concert fans.

Since its launch in beta in April 2012 Evntlive raised $2.3 million in financing. In the first two months since its launch, the platform already streamed live performances of Bon Jovi.

Evntlive also included a pay-per-view service, where users could pay just to watch certain shows.

After Marrisa Mayer took over at the helm of Yahoo!, the Internet giant made several acquisitions, including Tumblr, a microblogging and social networking platform founded by David Karp, for approximately $1.1 billion. Yahoo! spent $163 million on eight acquisitions between July and September 2013. Yahoo! acquired Bignoggins, Qwiki, Xobni, Admovate, Ztelic, Lexity, Rockmelt and IQ Engines in the third quarter of 2013.
