The war of the browsers: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome

Internet browsersGoogle Chrome, considered the fastest web browser, will exceed Firefox in December in terms of most used web browser, as estimated by StatCounter.

The Irish at StatCounter are convinced that Google Chrome will take second place among the most used Internet browsers, and Firefox will go on three, in December this year.

Chrome, browser launched by Google three years ago, has gained a reputation for the fastest browser, and its market share has climbed steadily. According to StatCounter, this month, Chrome had a market share of 23.6%, while Firefox has stagnated at 26.8%. Internet Explorer remains the most popular browser with 41.7%.

The increase of Chrome is significant this year. Since January, the browser has gained 8%. In the same period Firefox and Internet Explorer have each lost four percent.

If this trend continues, Chrome will tie Firefox in November and will pass its rival in December. StatCounter estimated that Google Chrome will have in December a market share of 26.6% and Firefox 25.3%.

Net Applications, another web analytics company well known in the web browser industry for its global statistics, estimates that Google Chrome will exceed Firefox in the middle of next year. According to data from Net Applications, Firefox has a 22.6% share, and Chrome just 15.5%, while Microsoft IE has 55.3%.

Google trap for Mozilla

Mozilla Firefox started to lose more and more users when it has decided to enter the game from Google, which launched a new version every few weeks. Mozilla Firefox started with version 4.0, to move slower and freeze sometimes.

The latest version 7.0, released this week promises to repair the mistakes of earlier versions, consuming less memory with better speed. It is however a bit late, because most users have found Chrome, a browser that is moving even faster and reached the stable version 14.0.
