One of Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s lawyers is convinced that the former IMF chief will be acquitted of criminal charges and says he’s confident of chances to win the trial accusing DSK of committing sexual assaults, according to AFP.
“I will not go into the details of this case yet, but I am confident, and do not believe at all that Strauss-Kahn would be found guilty of conduct which is blamed and I can predict that he will be acquitted of criminal charges”, said attorney Benjamin Brafman, in an interview with French television channel M6.
Former director of the International Monetary Fund, whom the Hotel maid accused of sexual assault and attempted rape, will have the first day in court on Monday.
Brafman, who refused to give interviews after the outbreak of the scandal, accepted M6’s channel proposal because “it was rather a portrait of his than about this case”, said Etienne Truchot, one of two French journalists who discussed with the American lawyer.
The 20 minutes material made by M6 is entitled “Benjamin Brafman, lawyer of stars, star of lawyers” and will be broadcast in France on Sunday, on the TV show “66 Minutes”.
Les Levine, private investigator who worked for several years for Brafman, says that his mission was “rummaging trash bins”, to allow lawyers to tell jurors that the main witness is not reliable”.
Ben Brafman, aged 62, “is very good when it comes to harassment of the prosecutor, said, in turn, former Attorney Walter Mack, who was his opponent in the 80s, in the trials against mafia clans. “Every morning for half an hour, he told me, at the hearings, that I did a poor job”, he added.
In 2001, when he pulled off the acquittal of the rapper Puff Daddy – accused of opening fire in front of over 100 witnesses – the lawyer was heard saying “Thank God!”.
