Samsung is the bigest producer of smartphones

SamsungThe South Korean company Samsung has surpassed Apple in terms of number of phones sold worldwide in the third quarter, reports Bloomberg. Samsung sold 27.8 million smart phones and has a 23.8% market share on this market segment.
Meanwhile, Apple has sold just 17.1 smartphones and covers 14.6% of the market. In third place was Nokia, according to consulting firm Milton Keynes.

Apple, which recently launched iPhone 4S, was in the news headlines for months after it surpassed Nokia earlier this year. But Samsung has made a decisive move when it turned to Google and partnered with the giant search engine company to develop the Android operating system. The program is installed on both smartphones, and tablets.

Smartphones “hit” the gas pedal

Total smartphone market rose 44% last year to 117 million units, announced people at Strategy Analytics. Nokia’s market share fell to 14.5% from 32.7% last year. Apple profit rises, but sales of iPhone smartphones disappointed investors for the first time in six years. Apple’s profit reached 6.62 billion dollars or $7.05 per share in the fourth quarter, compared to $4.31 billion in the same period of the last year. Even so, the financial results have not reached the analysts’ estimates of $7.31 per share.

Apple sold 17.07 million iPhone devices in the quarter ended on September, less than 20 million units expected by analysts quoted by Bloomberg. And this happened as more and more users have expected the launch of the iPhone 4S. The financial results were not close to analysts’ estimates for the first time in six years, writes Bloomberg. This means that many potential customers have waited the launch of new iPhone model 4S and did not buy older Apple models.
