The hotel chamber maid who accused Dominique Strauss-Kahn of sexual assault said that she and her daughter “were crying every day” in the past three months, continuing the media offensive started a few days ago.
“Me and my daughter are crying every day” said the maid, stressing that she wants to be “courageous on behalf of all women in the world”.
“In recent months, we went through many trials with my daughter, I experienced many things. Me and my family have gone through many trials. The only reason I’m here is because people have called me in many ways, that’s why I’m here, for people to know that many of the things said about me are not true”, said the maid.
“I will be strong for my daughter and all women in the world. I do not want other women to go through what happened to me. It is too much for me and my daughter”, concluded the maid.
Maid’s lawyer, Kenneth Thompson, said that they will “act for all women in the world who have been victims of sexual assaults”. “She wants justice to be done, and, if prosecutors will drop the charges, we will have to initiate another lawsuit, civil”, said the maid’s lawyer.
Nafissatou Diallo’s public intervention took place at a Christian center in Brooklyn, a day after the eight hour hearing with the prosecutor in Manhattan.
The maid was accompanied by lawyer Kenneth Thompson, pastor A.R. Bernard, director of the Christian Center, Mohammed Nurhussien, president of United African Congress and other leaders of women’s rights organizations.
