Lenovo has recently unveiled two new notebooks, X220 tablet PC and ThinkPad x220 laptop. The lightweight X series of Lenovo ThinkPads now offers ‘Sandy Bridge’ processor chip from Intel while the X220 laptops even have the option of getting benefitted from 24-hour battery timing.
These two new models are in fact a second round of introducing light and thin business notebooks by Lenovo in just about a few weeks. The devices feature the second generation of Sandy Bridge core processors which are said to be at least 20% faster and give far superior graphics performance than the first generation chips.
The X220 laptop has a very minimal weight i.e. just 3 pounds and boasts an HD display of 12.5”. It features a button-less touchpad and a trackpoint. The touchpad is 45% bigger than all the previous touchpads introduced by Lenovo in its notebooks.
The X220 tablet PC, on the other hand, has a swivel hinge under its touchscreen thereby allowing the user to turn the touchscreen to any angle even folding it flat to make it a tablet. This model offers a 12.5” high definition infinity glass display and has a weight of 3.8 pounds with a 4-cell battery.
The Infinity glass recognizes not only two-finger touch but also recognizes 5-finger movements as well as pen input on the touchscreen. The X220 tablet PC has also passed 8 military tests for reliability and durability which makes it the best choice for use in untraditional and outdoor environments.
The 9-cell battery in the Thinkpad X220 notebook gives a battery timing of 15 hours due to the efficient and minimal use of power by the Sandy Bridge 2nd generation core processors. If an external battery is used, this back up time can be extended even up to 24 hours.
Both the models are being expected to be released in the month of April. The X220 tablet PC will be available at $1,199 while the X220 laptop will be available at $899.
