Lady GaGa, Compared to Mother Teresa

There are many similarities between the eccentric singer and the famous missionary, headlines “The Economist”. Of course, first of all, it must be said that there are major differences between Mother Teresa and Lady GaGa.

Perhaps the meat dress of the U.S. soloist would not please the Albanian missionary. Also the star’s habit of heading to change outfits several times a day, which would have been classified as extravagant and vain.

Mother Teresa used to wear the same modest dresses every day, to symbolize her decision to live her live in poverty, chastity and modesty. Instead, Lady GaGa sometimes likes to appear as naked as possible.

However, similarities between the two women are more important, writes The Economist. Besides the fact that both are revered by millions of people, they share the decision to change their names from the birth certificates that were long and not very melodic, with some short and popular ones: Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu became Mother Teresa, and Stefani Germanotta became Lady GaGa.

In addition, both have become internationally recognized brands, with whom, people rejected by society, identify. Mother Teresa cared for the poor and sick, while Lady GaGa describes herself as “a freak, a loner, and a lost soul in search of people in the same situation”.

Moreover, the singer always ensure her fans that it is OK to be weird, an encouraging message not only to gay community but for most adolescents.

Mother Teresa with the language, Lady GaGa with Social Media

Also, both women have not been reluctant to hard work. Mother Teresa used to wake up every day at 4:40 in the morning to take part in Matins, and Lady GaGa also works all the time. Very good communication with the public is another common point.

Mother Teresa was considered as a “PR machine” that could perfectly speak the audience’s language, regardless of their social condition. On the other hand, Lady GaGa is one of the first pop stars who has built her career using to the maximum the social networks and the Internet.
