DiCaprio and Scorsese could work again in a remake of “The Gambler”

Martin Scorsese will direct the remake of the original 1974 film, when the main role was played by James Caan. The movie “The Gambler” portrays the drama of a New York English professor that, despite a legendary career teaching, secretly face gambling addiction. This movie showed the decline of the main character, who comes to steal money from his mother and asked one of his students to shave points in a basketball game to help him pay his debts.

Leonardo DiCaprio is the star chosen for this project by Scorsese, although the actor has not confirmed yet the role. If he will accept, “The Gambler” will be the fifth collaboration between the two, informs huffingtonpost.com.

DiCaprio and Scorsese have started working in 2002 with the film “Gangs of New York”, a collaboration that continued with the feature films “The Aviator”, “The Departed” and “Shutter Island”.

Leonardo DiCaprio will be seen soon on the big screen in “J. Edgar”, a film directed by Clint Eastwood about the life and career of J. Edgar Hoover, founder of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The actor is working at this time on “The Great Gatsby”, a 3D adaptation of director Baz Luhrman, also playing the lead role.

Martin Scorsese has ventured in 3D with his next film on the big screen, a feature of the universe of children entitled “Hugo”. The American filmmaker will present soon on the HBO a documentary about George Harrison, of the Beatles, and is already in the pre-production stage with “Silence”, a thriller with the action placed in the seventeenth century; he will work again with Daniel Day Lewis, star of “Gangs of New York”, and with Gael Garcia Bernal.

There are rumors in the American press that DiCaprio and Scorsese will work together on “Sinatra”, a biopic about the famous American singer Frank Sinatra.
