Dad surprises daughter by leaving wheelchair to walk her down the aisle

This is unconditional love at its finest.

When American woman Heather Duquette looked ahead to her wedding, having her father there would be a dream-come-true in itself.

Ralph Duquette has had to overcome many obstacles in his life, including surviving cancer, being in a coma for almost a week and becoming blind in one eye.

Ralph Duquette and his daughter, Heather, previously agreed he didn’t have the strength to walk her down the aisle at her wedding.

However, Duquette practiced walking all summer so he’d be able to surprise his daughter on her big day.

He had his doctor arrange home visits with a nurse and physical therapists that started this past April and continued through the week before the wedding to help him regain strength in his legs.

Heather says her father was also fortunate enough to be the one to perform the ceremony and give her away.

According to WCSH News, Duquette even danced with the new bride for the father-daughter dance.
