Birmingham restaurant of chef Jamie Oliver, devastated by protesters

Chef Jamie Oliver announced that his Birmingham restaurant has been devastated by protesters.

Unprecedented violence erupted in recent days on the streets of Birmingham as an expansion of the riots in London, which began on the evening of Saturday after shooting of the drug trafficker Mark Duggan by the metropolitan police forces, informs digitalspy.co.uk.

Jamie Oliver announced Tuesday in a message posted on Twitter that his Italian cuisine restaurant that he owns in the Bullring Shopping Centre in Birmingham was among the buildings that were destroyed by protesters.

“Unfortunately, my restaurant in Birmingham was destroyed. The windows were broken, the whole area was closed, I can’t open the restaurant. Fortunately, the staff and customers are safe”, said Oliver.

Jamie Oliver announced also that his London restaurant, food and kitchen shop “Recipease”, escaped the wrath of protesters.

Oliver previously condemned the riots on the streets of London, in a message posted on Twitter before his Birmingham restaurant was devastated: “It’s so sad to see what is happening in Britain these days! Everyone’s mad! The time has come to restore peace in our country and we must severely punish these idiots!”

The famous chef Jamie Oliver has written numerous cookbooks, has made television series, collaborations with the BBC and Channel 4 broadcast in over 50 countries. In “Happy Days with the Naked Chef”, as part of a tour of live shows, Jamie was cooking in front of arenas full of fans. He was invited by Tony Blair to cook dinner at the official residence Downing Street no. 10, and for the birthday of Queen Elizabeth II. He was awarded the title of Honorary Member of the Order of British Empire.

He launched the non-profit restaurant chain Fifteen (London, Amsterdam, Melbourne, Cornwall), in order to educate and provide disadvantaged young people jobs in the food industry.
