President Barack Obama derided on Saturday Donald Trump’s presidential ambitions, saying that the billionaire businessman would bring change to the White House by turning it from an imposing building in a gaudy casino with a pool in the garden, in response to attacks in the last weeks coming from the possible Republican presidential candidate, reports the Associated Press.
With Donald Trump in attendance, Obama used the annual dinner of the Press Association correspondents at the White House to banter presidential ambitions of the billionaire. Obama said that Trump has shown insight of a future president, from the dismissal of actor Gary Busey in a recent episode of a TV show, to focusing for so much time on conspiracy theories about the birthplace of the White House leader.
A week after Obama unveiled his full birth certificate, the president said that Trump can now focus on serious issues like the authenticity of the moon landing.
“Nobody is more proud to conclude this issue of birth certificate than Donald”, said Obama, referring to Trump’s statements on the same day whereby he would be responsible for solving this problem.
Then, as a finisher, Obama has presented on a screen a picture with his vision about how Trump would change the White House. The word ‘Trump’ was prominently displayed in bright letters, while girls with cocktails could be seen in a jacuzzi on the front lawn of the White House.
Obama and Trump have been in the same room after a week of intense attacks from the billionaire, who insisted on the conspiracies of the birthplace of the president and on Obama’s refusal to make public his grades from university.
Obama also joked that he has the tape of the moment when he came into the world. Then a clip from the animation movie ‘Lion King’ made by Disney was shown.
The dinner organized by the White House Correspondents Association, a centennial institution, is primarily a social event involving journalists, politicians, stars of the small or big screen or famous athletes. According to AFP, among the guests of this year’s dinner, which was held in the ballroom of a large hotel in Washington, were the actress Scarlett Johansson, the star of the series ‘Mad Men’, Jon Hamm, and brother directors Joel and Ethan Coen.
