The average income of employees in distribution centers are on average 30% higher than the income of similar employees working in traditional stores, according to the company. Additional to the regular pay, there retirement, health care and stock benefits for full-time employees, which represented last 5 years approximately 9% of the salary.

Spending of Amazon with distribution centers have doubled in the last three years, after the company decided to open more stores, with more products and more diverse stock to reduce delivery costs and to facilitate honoring orders faster. Amazon recorded a $7 million loss in the second quarter although sales rose sharply amid massive investment.

President Obama will visit Tuesday an Amazon distribution center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he is expected to talk about the new job creation policies.
